The story
David Compton races fast and builds races for everyone else. He is cofounder and race director of East Coast Adventures, cohost of the Dirt and Vert podcast, cofounder of Friction Prescription and a RUNNTENN board member.
At the 2025 Pistol Ultra he ran 100K in 9:07:30, the Tennessee men's record, then won the 2026 Pistol 50 mile in 7:08:49, reported as another state record. He also knows the long haul: in 2023 he finished the roughly 314 mile Vol State in 5 days 11 hr 56 min, uncrewed in the screwed division.
He launched East Coast Adventures with the Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival in 2020. It now puts on Fort Frenzy, Gone Loco, the Cherokee Ultra and World's Fair Ultras, offers race timing and a running team, and supports local charities. He also helped organize the Darrah Wiseman Memorial Track fundraiser to build a track at Tellico Plains High School.
