How HardTracks tracks it
- Team phones carry geofences around every checkpoint and transition area, and log each arrival on their own.
- A rogaine checkpoint can also be logged by a photo or its punch code, and volunteers can enter a visit by hand.
- Dark zones, gear checks and late penalties are kept with each team’s race.
- GPS devices for teams arrive next year.
What fans see
- Every team on a topo map.
- Adventure races: standings leg by leg, transition times and the arrival log.
- Rogaines: a scoreboard with points, checkpoints found and time left, and a heat map of the checkpoints teams went for.
What directors get
- Legs, transition areas, mandatory and optional checkpoints, and dark zones on one course.
- Rogaine checkpoints with point values, geofences and open and close times, scored as points minus late penalties.
- Gear checks and penalties kept with each team, and every team arriving together.
