HardTracks is in Beta. We are taking on a small number of races this year to test it and make sure it runs well for every runner.

EVERYTHING HARDTRACKS DOES

Everything your race needs on race day, and after.

Live tracking, safety, predictions and race reports, built around your race.

THE WHOLE RACE ON ONE MAP

Every check in, live on the terrain.

Every athlete where they last checked in, every aid station and the Sweeper Reaper, live on a topo map. Between stations the dot is an estimate from their pace, and says so.

  • See the whole field at a glance.
  • Switch distances in one tap.
  • An elevation profile for every course.
  • The Sweeper Reaper, moving with the cutoffs behind the field.
  • Works on any phone or computer, with nothing to download.

TAP YOUR RUNNER

Know how their day is going.

Family and crew see exactly how their runner is doing. Tap a name and their whole race opens up.

  • Where they were last seen, and when.
  • Their pace so far.
  • About when they reach the next aid station and the finish.
  • Their goal, if they chose to share it.
  • Estimates are always clearly marked.

FOR CREWS

Know when to be there.

Pick your aid station and see about when your runner will roll in, updated all day.

  • About when they get there, and a window either side that tightens as they get closer.
  • How far they have to go, and their pace so far.
  • Right on their runner card, on any phone. Estimates are always clearly marked.

RACE CONTROL

The whole race from one screen.

The director sees everything that matters, the moment it happens. Nothing waits for a radio call.

  • Every check in as it happens.
  • Drops, pickups and issue reports in one place.
  • Add athletes, fix and swap bibs right up to the start.
  • A finish list for every distance.
  • A link for every aid station.

SAFETY BUILT IN

When something happens, everyone knows fast.

Safety is part of race day, not an extra. One alert reaches the whole course, and every athlete can ask for help.

  • One emergency alert reaches every station phone, the live page and every athlete signed up for race day texts: storms, hazards, course holds and the all clear.
  • Athletes can report an issue from their own phone, and check in when they choose.
  • Race Control sees pickups, and emergency contacts are in your race sheets.
  • The sweepers are right there on the map.

SAFETY

Know where every athlete is. Especially when it matters.

What if

4:12 pm.

Lightning on the ridge.

Bib 212 left mile 14 an hour ago and has not reached mile 18.

Where was she last seen?

With HardTracks you know in one tap.

  • Last seen at every stationEvery check in is stamped with the station and the time, so you always know where an athlete was last seen.
  • Overdue athletes stand outWhen an athlete is well past their expected time at the next station, Race Control flags them as overdue.
  • One tap Emergency alertStorm, hazard or course hold: one alert reaches every athlete signed up for race day texts, every station phone and the live page. OK replies come back to Race Control.
  • Help from the trailAn athlete in trouble can report it from their own phone, with where they are, and it lands in Race Control.
  • Families follow alongThe live page shows where their athlete was last seen, so families know without calling the race director.
  • Crews know when to expect themCrews see an arrival estimate at every aid station, updated with each check in.
  • Lightning doesn't check your race schedule.
  • The sweeper shouldn't have to guess.

THE RACE RADAR

A call on every finish.

Before the gun, every athlete gets a HardTracks call on their finish. Then race day settles it.

  • Athletes share their goal and their own estimate.
  • Race day compares all three with what really happens.
  • Athletes who beat the call earn a badge.

EXAMPLE TEXTS

RACE DAY TEXTS

We only text when it matters.

No reminders. No promos. No race week chatter. If something on course puts runners at risk, Race Control texts every runner who opted in, right away.

  1. 1

Storm warningLightning or severe weather? Runners are told to take shelter and reply OK when they are safe, so Race Control knows who still needs checking on.

  2. 2

All clearWhen it is safe, the same runners get the all clear to keep racing.

  3. 3

Hazard on the trailA snake, a downed tree or a washed out crossing comes with the mile, so runners know just where to slow down.

Your number is used only for texts about that race. It is never used for anything else and never given, shared or sold to anyone.

RELIVE IT AFTER

The race does not end at the finish line.

Every result, every split and every story stays with the race. Athletes get something they will want to share.

  • Results and every split stay on the race page.
  • Replay the whole race on the map.
  • Every athlete gets their own race report and a short video, with share cards.
  • Miles McStride writes the race eve and highlights posts we share on HardTracks’ own Instagram.

MEET MILES McSTRIDE

Miles McStride covers your race day.

Miles McStride writes live notes on your live page from your race’s own data, from race morning to the last finisher, then the race eve and highlights posts and his lines in every athlete’s race report. Facts only.

  • Live notes: a race morning hello, runner spotlights and the Sweeper Reaper setting off.
  • The first runner into each station and across the finish.
  • Race eve and highlights posts on HardTracks’ own Instagram.
  • His lines in every athlete’s race report.

TRACKING TO FIT YOUR RACE

However your race runs.

Chip timing, aid station check ins and athletes’ own check ins from their phones, on their own or together.

  • Aid station check insEvery aid station checks athletes in on any phone.
  • HybridChip timing where you have mats, aid station check ins everywhere else.
  • Chip timing (RFID)Your timing system’s reads flow straight onto the live page.
  • Athlete phonesEach athlete gets their own link, with no app. If they choose, they can tap Check in to send their spot and a note, and I have an issue sends Race Control their location. The race can also turn on phone tracking, so the phone sends its spot along the way. Between check ins the live page shows an estimate and labels it. A check in made with no signal is saved on the phone and sends by itself when a bar comes back.
  • Runner check insRunners who want to can tap Check in on their own link anywhere on the course. One location per tap, never a running trail, placed on their course.
  • Texts in the fieldSend safety alerts and race updates by text to athletes, crews and volunteers on the course. A text often gets through where data won’t. We set it up with you.

WE SET IT UP

Send us your course and your athletes.

Send us your course and your athlete list, and we do the rest. Your race is ready long before the gun.

  • Your course maps built for you.
  • Your logo and photos on your race page.
  • A shared checklist, so nothing is missed before race day.
  • Race day support.

BETA

We are in Beta.

Pricing is not set yet. HardTracks is in Beta, and Beta races get live tracking and setup free.

How sponsors work on your race

Your race, your sponsors. You pick how sponsors show on your live page, race emails and race video.

  1. Your sponsors only. Add your own sponsors' logos and links. They are the only sponsors on your race, and no HardTracks sponsors appear.
  2. Your sponsors plus ours. Keep your sponsors front and center, and pick HardTracks sponsors you are happy to carry alongside them. Each HardTracks sponsor you carry earns your race a credit off your HardTracks bill.
  3. HardTracks sponsors. No sponsors of your own? Let us fill the space with HardTracks sponsors you approve. This earns your race the biggest credit off your bill.

How it works:

  • Sponsors show in one strip on your live page, on the end card of race videos, in race emails and in your race report.
  • Your own sponsors always come first.
  • You approve every HardTracks sponsor before it shows, and you can block any that compete with your own sponsors.
  • Sponsors never get your runners' names, emails or phone numbers. See our Data Promise.
  • Credits come off your HardTracks bill. They are never a cash payout.
  • After your race you get a free report showing how many people followed it live, to help you sell your own sponsors next year.
  • You can change your choice any time before race week.
  • During the Beta, live tracking and setup are free, so sponsor credits start once pricing is set.
